Life Together

How we seek to live out our faith in Jesus Christ together

Prayer

Being a follower of Jesus is not a religion but a relationship with a good and loving God. Living in that relationship means that we must communicate with God, talking with God and listening to God. We call that “prayer”. We have many ways to pray, from our personal prayer alone with God to corporate prayer together with God’s people. However we pray, God uses our prayers to transform the world.

COLHOP

We established the City of London House of Prayer in 2013 to provide a place for prayer in central London for many Christians, groups & churches. Our vision is to link Christians all around London in 24/7 prayer. Although we will take a break during the redevelopment, COLHOP will resume in the new building as we pursue Jesus and his loving rulership in our city.

Community

“Community” for us is not just sharing a cup of coffee after worship but sharing our lives together in whatever way possible. We seek to build relationships with one another that help us grow and change and become more like Jesus. We welcome one another and seek to provide a high-trust environment where we can learn together what it means to be Christians.

Residential Community

We established the City Temple Residential Community in 2002 as a group of devoted Christians who live in the CT building and “shoulder” the ministry of CT. From leading worship to welcoming guests to washing dishes to serving on the leadership, members of the residential community engage fully in the life of CT and help people serve Jesus more effectively.

Worship

Worship is more than singing. Christian worship is actively and joyfully surrendering ourselves to God the Father, through Jesus who died on the cross and rose bodily from the grave, in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. When we offer ourselves to God in worship, God becomes glorified in us and we experience satisfaction in God.

Children in Worship

We welcome children to share in every aspect of our worship at City Temple. We have discovered that when children participate in worship alongside their parents, they become stronger followers of Jesus. We are amazed at how much they hear and learn. No wonder Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God” (Luke 18:16 ESV). Check out our special message regarding children on our “Media” page.  (Click for the safeguarding handbook, Good Practice 6, or contact our safeguarding coordinator for how we implement this at City Temple.)

Outreach

As a church without a “neighbourhood”, we need creative ways to do outreach. We encourage everyone to share the good news about Jesus with their family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues. We also reach out by welcoming people into our building for meetings, conferences, community events and other activities, showing them the love of Jesus in any way possible. We want people all over London to hear the good news and respond to Jesus in faith.

The 7.5 Million

Why are there so many Christian churches in London? We need a diversity of churches to reach a diversity of people with the good news about Jesus Christ. We need churches filled with God’s grace and love to reach people who are broken, struggling and lonely – in addition to reaching those who seem to have it all together. As Jesus said, “the harvest is plentiful” (Luke 10.2)

Training

Becoming Christians and churches who live vibrantly and fully doesn’t happen accidentally. We need to receive coaching about how Jesus calls us to live. We need to prepare ourselves to live joyfully and effectively. We need to discipline ourselves, learning new skills for living as followers of Jesus. CT provides training in varied ways, including Bible studies, courses, individual coaching and seminars. We relate Biblical teaching to how we live individually and together.
